COMPUTER SUPPORT IN YOUR HOME OR OFFICE

No longer do you need to disassemble your system in order to bring it into a service center for repairs or upgrades, which can leave you without your PC for more than a week!! I offer you the personalized, one on one service that you deserve for all of your computing needs. I will test your system and get to the root of the problem, rather than to offer the quick fix, assembly line type of service that you will get through a service center. My clients are always welcome to pull up a chair and observe exactly what is being done with their systems. I am always open to any questions that you may have during the entire session. For the complete list of services that I offer, please click on the "Services" button on the navigation bar to the left of the screen.
Tips of the Month
MICROSOFT WINDOWS VISTA
Thinking of upgrading your system to the new Vista Operating System? Here are some helpful hints to take into consideration before making your decision. MINIMUM HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
1 Gigabyte of system memory
SOFTWARE ISSUES: Many applications, especially utilities such as antivirus suites and system tools, applications, games will not run under Windows Vista. Most device drivers will need to be downloaded and updated, if they are available, at the time that you install Vista.
BOTTOM LINE: Microsoft Vista will ship at the end of January, 2007. The software will have various compatibility issues right out of the box. My advice is to A) either wait until companies have had a chance to update device drivers and released working updates to their software or B) Purchase a system with Windows Vista pre-installed. In this case you will still need to wait for software companies to come out with Vista certified versions of their programs, namely antivirus suites and system utilities. COMPUTER INSURANCE
The warranty on your system does not cover you for "Acts of God" (lightening strikes) that damage your system. Add Electronic Data Processing Equipment coverage to your homeowner's or renter's insurance (make sure that they cover you in these cases when you speak to your agent). This coverage is very inexpensive and usually carries a $200.00 deductible, but it's worth it's weight in gold when lightening strikes. NOTE: You should always turn your system off during a thunderstorm.
IDENTITY THEFT Be on the lookout for any emails that ask you to confirm your account information regarding financial information (credit cards, bank accounts, Paypal etc...). These email messages are known as phishing schemes. They redirect you to a site that attempts to emulate the login page for the financial company in question. They then want you to log in to your account and update your information, usually with the inference that your account will be closed should you fail to do this. Once you enter your login and password information, you will have, unwittingly, given that information to an online thief, who will then be able to log in to your account and access your records and your funds. IMPORTANT: None of these financial institutions will ever ask you, via email, to update your information. If you ever see one of these emails, do not open it under any circumstances. Delete it immediately. Please be aware that 100% of the time, these messages are illegitimate. For more information about phishing schemes please click here for an article on safe online shopping.
